POSITION SUMMARY

DePauw University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Director and Community Liaison (PDCL) to lead and manage our Growing Green and Gold Together project, funded by the Lilly Endowment. This initiative is designed to strengthen the University's engagement with the Greencastle community, fostering sustainable partnerships and creating opportunities for mutual growth.

The PDCL will work closely with the grant executive leadership team, consisting of the Vice President of Institutional Equity and Vice President of Finance and Administration at DePauw University and the Mayor and City Attorney of the City of Greencastle, to implement the funded projects in a collaborative and transparent fashion.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee the implementation of the Growing Green and Gold Together initiative, ensuring alignment with the goals and objectives outlined in the Lilly Endowment grant.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring the successful execution of the program.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of faculty, staff, and community partners to achieve project outcomes.

Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between DePauw University and the Greencastle community, building and nurturing relationships with local stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the university and community organizations, businesses, and residents to advance the goals of the project.
  • Organize and lead community meetings, workshops, and events to engage the local population and gather feedback.

Grant Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including reporting, financial management, and documentation.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare regular reports, and communicate updates to university leadership and the Lilly Endowment.
  • Identify and address any challenges or risks to the successful completion of the project.

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with university leadership to develop long-term strategies for sustaining the partnerships and programs initiated through the grant.
  • Identify opportunities for additional funding or resources to support the ongoing success of the initiative.

Communication:

  • Develop and implement a communication plan to promote the project within the university and the broader community.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other materials to various audiences, including the University, community partners, and the Lilly Endowment.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., project management, community development, nonprofit management) required; Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, community engagement, or a related field. Financial management experience, including budgeting and reporting for grant-funded projects.
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofits, or local municipalities is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing a complex budget is highly desirable.

Communication/Language: Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills: MS Office Applications and Google Applications

Other Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
