Executive Director, Hoosier For Renewables

The role of the Executive Director will be to manage and oversee daily operations of the Hoosiers for Renewables, a statewide grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to supporting renewable energy in Indiana. This person needs to be a self-starter and able to manage a large organization with engagement needed in all corners of the state. The Executive Director will need to manage and make decisions about deploying and growing assets throughout the state to participate in grassroots advocacy that will have the most impact.

Candidates with experience in energy policy, agriculture, local and rural development, economic development, and/or grassroots and political management will be highly considered.

As Executive Director, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The public “face and voice” (spokesperson) for Hoosiers for Renewables.
  • The ED needs to understand the issues and be able to articulate the positive impact renewable energy will have for Indiana. Acting as the spokesperson for organization, the executive director will need to present in public and private settings, including community meetings, public hearings, elected officials, other community organizations.
  • Recruit additional leaders – stakeholders, business leaders, local elected/public officials, civic organizations, etc. – to be advocates for renewable energy development.
  • Utilize community leaders to grow community support and identify local residents in support of renewable energy projects.
  • Support the development of program strategy, messaging, and tactics that ensure successful outcomes for the organization.
  • Oversee Deputy Directors and additional potential field coordinators or other staff.
  • Coordinate with consultants and contractors (including but not limited to political, legal, communications) to ensure the organization operates within legal and ethical guidelines while effectively supporting the development of renewable energy projects in the state.
  • This role will involve significant travel. Direct advocacy (lobbying) of state legislative officials (elected or staff) is NOT a responsibility of this position.
