History

The Indiana Economic Development Association, Inc. was formed in 1968 by 16 professional industrial developers to provide continuity to a statewide community development effort.  IEDA was incorporated in 1982 as a statewide not-for-profit economic development organization.  With each year, IEDA has extended its educational programs and has become more actively engaged in influencing legislation and policies.  Since 2005, IEDA has employed lobbying firm, Bose Public Affairs Group, to help IEDA monitor and develop state legislation and to speak out on important issues.

Many past presidents of IEDA continue to remain active in the organization through IEDA’s Governance Committee, which is exclusively comprised of these past presidents. The organization now maintains membership comprised of over 400 members and continues to grow.
