Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership (HCEDP), Business Development Manager

The position of business development manager is a full-time position with the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership (Partnership). The Partnership is a public/private partnership that promotes the economic health and vitality of Hendricks County and its municipalities.

This position requires a positive attitude, strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment to meet organizational and existing company needs. A strong knowledge level of state, regional and local business incentives is key to the success of this position. Due to the nature of the position, confidentiality is critical.

The manager will be responsible to work in partnership with the executive director to develop programs that support the needs of local base industry. This position is a direct report to the executive director. This staff member will work directly with the executive director, public and private investors, and local companies to implement the HCEDP Strategic Plan:

  1. Fund-raising and Internal Communication
  2. Marketing and External Communication
  3. Other Ad hoc committees as established and deemed necessary.

Educational/Experience Requirements

Must have at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or economics major. Prefer 2-4 years of experience in a business development or fundraising role with an eagerness to learn.

Duties

Business Attraction and Marketing
The manager’s primary duty will be to manage attraction projects. In the event the executive director cannot be present, the manager should be prepared to step in to represent the HCEDP in attraction duties.

  1. Completing requests for information
  2. Site visit meeting presentation preparation and facilitation as needed
  3. Project management tracking and updates
  4. Other activities as assigned by the executive director

Company and Community Awareness/ Education
The manager will work with the team to provide opportunities to create awareness and provide information to companies and elected officials addressing needs and concerns as needed. The manager will schedule regular meeting updates with utility representatives, developers, and elected officials. The manager may be asked to represent the HCEDP at government meetings when the executive director is not available.

Business Retention and Expansion (BRE)
The role of the manager will be to work with the executive director to manage the business retention, and expansion database. The manager should be prepared to step in to represent HCEDP on business retention and expansion visits as necessary. The manager will also update county real estate listings in the Zoom Prospector database as properties are taken or come available. The manager will also work with the team to develop marketing collateral to support this activity.

  1. Project Tracker reporting
  2. Follow up reports when any referral is needed

a. Any anticipated expansion/growth or looking elsewhere

Other duties as assigned by the executive director
The manager should be prepared and willing to assist with all aspects of the organization.

  1. Financial, invoicing, etc.
  2. Fundraising
  3. Town/County Council meetings
  4. Updates on all duties/ projects/ communication to the executive director
  5. Attend conferences in locations that may require extended stay accommodations.
