Warrick County, one of the fastest growing counties in Indiana and part of the Evansville, IN metropolitan area seeks an Executive Director of its Economic Development Division.


Position Summary: This position is accountable for all aspects of the development of new business and talent opportunities in Warrick County along with the retention, support and maintenance of existing industry sectors. In addition, the position is responsible for developing marketing strategies to attract talent and new investment. Building strong relationships with local, state and federal officials as well as other key partners to drive economic growth, such as the Warrick County Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana is paramount for success.

Nature and Scope: Executive Director will help develop marketing strategies for Warrick County for business attraction as well as nurture expansion of existing business; and, help to attract talent by working with communities to improve their quality of place.

Executive Director will work closely with the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, the Warrick County Chamber of Commerce and other similar organizations, as well as with local, state and federal governmental officials to ensure achieving pre-determined goals and regional objectives. Provide project management and administrative support to the Warrick County Redevelopment Commission.

Major Responsibilities: Assure attainment of growth in Warrick County by developing and implementing an aggressive marketing strategy.

Promote a favorable image of Warrick County and the Southwest region of the State of Indiana.

Work with the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana on all projects seeking to relocate to Warrick County for leads received directly or through the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Executive Director serves as an ex-officio director to the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana board.

Coordinate all Economic Development Advisory Council and Warrick County Redevelopment Commission board meetings, board committee meetings and provide appropriate information for decision making.

Assure compliance with all policies as adopted by the Warrick County Commissioners and boards.

Assure the smooth operations of the Warrick County Economic Development office, supervise staff and conduct performance evaluations, manage finances and records; and, interact as needed with the outside accounting firm retained by the board of directors.

Prepare an annual budget for review and adoption.

Engage in state economic development activities and educational opportunities; remain well informed on economic development matters and trends as well as national economic trends in order to be effective in fulfilling job responsibilities.

Develop and maintain open and strategic relations with local and state governmental agencies, utilities, developers, commercial builders and area business leaders so as to serve as a resource for prospects and existing industry.

Work in conjunction with various partners including the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana to develop and maintain effective marketing materials which inform and present in the best light the resources and advantages of Warrick County and the Southwest Indiana region; determine effective methods of distribution of such materials to assure proactive exposure to business opportunities.

Educational and Professional Requirements

Candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing or a related field with a minimum of five years related experience. Experience working with local, state and federal officials is preferred.. A Certified Economic Developer accreditation is a plus.
